'Oyster Bill' Whitbeck

Taylor Shellfish Farms is beginning its seventh season at local Seattle area farmers markets. We continue to sell at two of the year round markets (University District and Ballard) and will return to Bellevue and Mukilteo for the 2009 summer season. Both the Bellevue and Mukilteo markets have new site locations this year. The Bellevue market has moved to 410 Bellevue Way NE, across from Bellevue Square, and the Mukilteo market has moved to Lighthouse Park, just south of the Mukilteo/Whidbey Island ferry landing.

Taylor grows and harvests oysters, clams and mussels from some of the finest shellfish growing regions in the country. The certified clean and nutrient rich waters provide the perfect growing environment for our shellfish. We guarantee the quality of our product with confidence and pride. At the farmers markets, I offer fresh farm raised oysters, Manila clams, Mediterranean mussels, and geoduck. Geoduck, the world's largest burrowing clam, has a sweet delicate flavor that lends itself to many culinary preparations. Find out for yourself why chefs near and far are calling geoduck, "The Pride of Puget Sound". The geoduck I sell at the markets average about two pounds each. Our oyster varieties include Kumamotos, Totten Inlet Virginicas, Pacifics, and the much loved local Olympia Oyster, the only oyster native to the West Coast of North America. Mediterranean mussels are at their peak during the summer months, when they get so sweet and plump, they're almost bursting out of their shells! We also sell pre-shucked oysters for pan frying or oyster stew, as well as shucking knives.

Interested in placing a special order to be picked up at one of our farmers markets? Give me a call or send me an email with your name, email address, phone number and shellfish needs, and I’ll get back to you.
