Mediterranean Mussels
Mussels have traditionally been a delicacy in continental Europe, yet in America they were a shellfish connoisseur's best kept secret. Well here at home the secret is out, and throughout the world, demand has increased dramatically. Unlike mussel companies that struggle with natural seed collection or mortality problems, our mussels come directly out of our state-of-the-art hatchery/nursery attached to fiber ropes -- ready for suspension culture from longlines and rafts. Suspension culture allows our mussels to thrive in the best food areas and never touch the sea bottom. This culture technique allows our mussels to reach market size in less than one year. Because they never touch the bottom, they are free of sand, mud or grit, and the only flavor you taste is that of the shellfish itself and the pure waters of Puget Sound.
