Beer Steamed Mussels

  • 3 tablespoons melted butter or olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ onion, finely diced
  • 3 lbs. Taylor Mediterranean Mussels, de-bearded and cleaned
  • 12 fluid oz. beer
  • Bunch of Italian flat-leaf parsley, coarsely chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Lemon or lime wedges


  • In a pan with a fitted lid, melt butter/olive oil on medium heat
  • Sauté garlic and onion until you start smelling the aroma (do not brown)
  • Add mussels and stir to combine
  • Pour in beer and cover until mussels are open and cooked
  • Stir in chopped parsley and add salt to taste
  • Serve immediately with a squeeze of lemon/lime
